Every so often I get a senior from my own hometown Monroe City, home of the Panthers, #Pantherpride! It just makes my heart so happy!

This is Riley and I have actually been shooting her since she was in grade school! She's finally a senior and oh my gosh, this girl is a stunner! Not only that, but she's also super sweet and she's an insane athlete. Talk about total package, right? Crazy.

For her shoot, we want to do incorporate all of her sports. She does basketball and softball, and we wanted to do this really fun red dress for some dramatic shots. Her mom and I talked before the session about what kind of outfits they were thinking and how we could make her session even more customized. She wanted these really sporty but feminine basketball shots as well as those intense athlete shots. For that we went downtown, put her on this basketball court with her black high heels, ripped jeans and a black tank and look how amazing it turned out! So tall, so confident, just absolutely perfect!

Her session was on one of the last fall days we had. It was getting to be too cold to shoot because it was rainy that day. We went back and forth on if we should postpone but it was one of the last days of fall colors so we really wanted to push through so we could capture that.

I always tell people don't stress out if your senior portrait session falls on the day that's really overcast and cloudy because it does give us flexibility to use locations that we cannot use on a sunny day. For example, this basketball court normally is in full sun, you could not take these photos and have them look like this on a sunny day. We only were able to use this location because it was a dreary day and we didn't have that bright brilliant sun that would ruin the shots.

The same thing goes for this building with the green flowers where she's in the green paisley dress. If it had been sunny that day, the sun would have ruined this shot. It would have been speckled all over her face and would have made the light completely unusable. That's why I tell people don't reschedule your session just because it's a cloudy day. You want a cloudy day, a cloudy day is amazing! If I wake up and it's going to be cloudy with no rain the day of your shoot I am pumped. The only thing I'm worried about is if it is straight up raining, so don't feel like you have to push your session just because the weather isn't bright and sunny and perfect. That is not always the "perfect" weather for a shoot.

Right now I'm booking the Class of 23 senior portraits so if you have not booked your session, be sure to get in touch as soon as possible. I am booking all the way through November and the months between June and October are starting to fill up. Be sure to get in touch as soon as possible to reserve your session.
