If you needed more proof that Colombia is just a big small town, take a look at this session! Avery's dad is actually from the same small town that I myself am from (Monroe City) and saw ANOTHER one of their friends senior portraits, who is also from Monroe and decided to get in touch! How cool is that! It always is so neat to find out that clients know clients, especially when they're coming from a long way away. I am always shocked at how many people hail from the little tiny town that I'm from and end up in Columbia.

For Avery's session, we had a lot of stuff we wanted to incorporate. She is a equestrian and they've got their horses boarded outside of town here in Colombia. This shoot happened in late fall, so I knew we'd have beautiful weather and soft light to be able to take the horses out in open lighting. She's also a really amazing volleyball player so we had to incorporate that too! How did we do that?

We started here at the studio and we shot some of these amazing volleyball shots! She brought in her Hickman uniform and I decided to put her in this purple gel light to really bring out that purple school color. Look how fun and vibrant that is! This is such a unique volleyball shot and not something that's a really cheesy like, "Look at me. Look at me. I play volleyball." It's just a really soft feminine shot that captures all of the dedication she's put into her sport. I find that a lot of senior ladies want something that captures their sport but want it to be softer and more feminine than traditional sports photography, so I was happy to create something like that for Avery!

After we finished up her sports photos, we headed outside the studio, and she had this fun little outfit with her black jeans and a leather crop jacket. I shot her in front of this building that had all these beautiful vines growing with fall colored leaves on it as well as downtown. Once we got downtown, we shot a number of different outfits, lots of different looks.

It was such a chilly day, but you would never know it, Avery was one tough cookie! She didn't complain once about the chilly weather and when we got out to see her horses you could tell she was in her element. We wanted to do a different look for each one for one of her horses, so we shot in the stables with her denim on denim look and then we switched it up and put her into this big chunky sweater and took her other horse outside so that we could capture both her and her horses unique personalities.
